Dominic began his law career working for a large full service law firm in Portland, Oregon. While practicing in Portland, Dominic’s work focused on litigation in the environmental and natural resource field involving the ESA, NEPA, NFMA, FLPMA, CWA, CERCLA, RCRA, public lands, grazing, federal Indian law and water rights. He also frequently worked on matters involving insurance coverage disputes, business disputes, contracts disputes, construction defects, and personal injury. In 2011, Dominic left Portland and brought his experience to Ron’s practice in Southern Oregon, which allowed Dominic the opportunity to work more closely with clients involved in the timber industry and expand the firm’s areas of practice. Today, Dominic handles most of the firm’s litigation, along with consulting clients on a wide variety of natural resource, environmental, real estate and business law and policy matters.

Prior to his law career, Dominic worked as a sportfishing guide on the Alaskan Peninsula guiding clients for all species of salmon, halibut and rainbow trout. He also spent time working for Oregon State University’s College Forests while attending OSU.

  • Oregon Natural Desert Ass’n v. Tidwell, 716 F.Supp.2d 982 (2010) (D. Or.)

    • Represented numerous private ranches in Oregon as intervenor-defendants and plaintiffs in case challenging Forest Service’s and National Marine Fisheries Service’s authorization of grazing permits on the Malheur National Forest under the ESA.

  • Stout v. Forest Service, No. 09-152-HA (D. Or.)

    • Represented private ranch as a plaintiff in a challenge to Forest Service’s management of wild horses on the Malheur National Forest based on Sections 7 and 9 of the ESA.

  • Wilderness Soc. v. U.S. Forest Serv., 630 F.3d 1173
    (9th Cir. 2011)

    • Represented the Public Land Council, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, Steens Mountain Landowner Group, Oregon Cattlemen's Association, Oregon Cattlemen's Public Lands Committee, and Oregon Farm Bureau Federation as amicus curiae in en banc appeal challenging intervention standards in the Ninth Circuit.

    • Represented Steens Mountain Landowners Group as intervenor-defendants in challenge to BLM’s RMP.
  • Cascadia Wildlands v. Kitzhaber, 911 F. Supp. 2d 1075 (D. Or. 2012)

    • Represented forest product trade associations and private timber companies as intervenor-defendants in ESA case challenging the State of Oregon’s management of state timberlands.

  • U.S. Forest Service v. Pacific Rivers Council (U.S. S.Ct. No. 12-623)

    • Represented the Public Land Council and National Cattlemen’s Beef Association as amicus curiae in U.S. Supreme Court appeal relating to legal standards under NEPA.

  • Oregon Natural Desert Ass'n v. Jewell, 3:12-CV-00596-MO, 2013 WL 5101338 (D. Or. Sept. 11, 2013)

    • Represented Harney County as intervenor-defendant in lawsuit challenging BLM’s authorization of a right-of-way to a private developer for the construction of an energy transmission line for a private wind farm.

  • Lone Rock Timberland Co. v. Nicholls, 6:11-CV-6274-TC, 2012 WL 2836880 (D. Or. July 10, 2012)

    • Represented private timber company in dispute between another private landowner and the BLM relative to the use of a federal logging right of way.

After spending her undergraduate years on the East Coast, Audrey returned to the Pacific Northwest to attend the University of Oregon School of Law because of their environmental law program and her interest in natural resource law. While in law school, Audrey was accepted for an externship at a large law firm in Portland and an internship at the United States District Court for the District of Oregon, Portland Division, which gave her experience with litigation and policy on a wide range of state and federal legal matters. During law school, Audrey represented her school as a member of the Mock Trial Team in the American Bar Association Labor and Employment Law Trial Competition, served as Associate Editor of the Journal of Environmental Law and Litigation, completed an externship at Lane County Circuit Court, and served as an officer of Phi Alpha Delta. After graduating in 2010, Audrey completed a two-year clerkship at the United States District Court for the District of Oregon, Medford Division. Audrey has been a member of the firm since 2020.

After spending two years advocating for farm policy in Washington D.C. and assisting with the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill, Nolan decided to move closer to his family’s western Oregon cattle ranch and pursue his interests in environmental and natural resource law at Lewis & Clark Law School. During law school Nolan externed at the American Forest Resource Council and the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon for the Honorary Judge Simon. He also worked as a law clerk for two different firms, including a summer spent at Dominic’s practice in Roseburg. At Lewis & Clark Nolan completed the Western Resources Legal Center practicum.
